OVER THE YEARS
1996
Quality Metal, Inc. was founded by Tod Hawkins, who moved to Northwest Arkansas from the Oklahoma panhandle with the vision of establishing a construction business that fabricated red iron frames. At the time, red iron frames were usually “welded-up”, and although advanced technology has changed the fabrication process, hard work and dedication to a quality product are still at the heart of the company.
2005
Quality Metal, Inc. purchases industry-leading software and programming, which allows the company to start fabricating and erecting pre-engineered, bolt-up buildings.
2007
Chris Unruh joins Quality Metal, Inc. as an estimator with over 10 years of experience in steel building & components sales. As his knowledge and expertise expands, he advances in the company, and eventually becomes manager of the sales department.
2018
Chris assumes ownership of the company, and Quality Metal, Inc. begins operating under the new legal name, Quality Building Systems, Inc. His unwavering commitment to continuous improvement of the fabrication process and quality workmanship continues to be an integral part of the company as QBS delivers structures of the highest standards to its customers year after year.
2021
Quality Building Systems grows internally and expands its facility. The company adds top talent and manpower to its shop, office, and field crews.
2022
Quality Building Systems lands several large-scale development permits, breaks ground on a new manufacturing facility, and expands its operations.
2025
QBS rebrands itself as Quality Metal Building Systems. While the legal name remains Quality Building Systems, Inc., the company operates day-to-day as Quality Metal Building Systems, a move designed to seamlessly integrate the company’s established reputation with its current focus on complete metal building solutions. The company logo is updated to reflect this new identity, ensuring our brand truly represents who we are and what we do.
